Nido Qubein

If I Wanted To Buy What You Sell, Would I Buy It From You?
Nido Qubein's story is well known. He came to America at age 17 with fifty dollars in his pocket, no contacts, and barely a word of English in his vocabulary, yet went on to become a very successful entrepreneur, business leader and multimillionaire. Nido's success in business and in life has inspired millions around the world. His program will make us all think.

Why should people do business with you? How easily can someone else imitate what you do? Do your customers think of you first? Nido shares dynamic principles for personal and corporate achievement. It doesn’t matter how much you know or what you can do. What matters is what your customers and colleagues believe and perceive you can do for them. Do they understand and value what you are offering? Your positioning reflects other people’s confidence in your ability to do whatever you do with professional competence and expertise – how much they trust you to meet their needs. Your positioning is the way people feel about you and your work; it’s about the way you make them feel when doing business with you. Nido Qubein shows us how to “position” for maximum results using a practical approach and a professional strategy.

Nido is an active speaker and consultant, addressing more than 100 business and professional groups around the world each year. He has also written numerous books and recorded scores of audio and video learning programs, including the bestseller on effective communication, How to Be a Great Communicator: In Person, on Paper, and on the Podium. Nido Qubein began a foundation that provides scholarships to 40 deserving young people each year. To date, the Qubein Foundation has granted more than 400 scholarships, worth more than a million dollars. Business Life Magazine summed him up best, "He coupled his charismatic style and positive nature with his acquired knowledge of human relations and communication...and built a multi-million dollar, multifaceted consulting enterprise — proving the American dream is still alive and well." Nido will take us for a ride on a road with his words you won't want to miss!

Keeping The Fun In Dysfunctional - An Integral Approach To Practice Management
What happens when you have the systems in place and your practice is still not operating the way you would like? What do you do when you have done everything the practice management gurus suggest and you are still not happy at work? Bill and Dave look at the reasons that conventional management approaches sometimes fall short, how to set realistic expectations for yourself and your team and how to determine what you really want from your practice.

You'll learn:

  • The three stages of practice evolution and how expectations and problems are different for each stage.
  • Self-esteem vs. self-worth. Which is more important?
  • Three "thinking errors" that sabotage your peace of mind.
  • What does it mean to be happy at work?

We offer learning opportunities for the increasingly large number of professionals who have noticed that life is not turning out the way they expected and are beginning to suspect that it never will. Despite a significant degree of professional success, our clients have come to question the institutional and social paradigms that have led to their present position in life and are ready to undertake a journey of self-examination.

His special area of interest is the management of staff relationships. Keynote Speaker - Friday, March 3, 2006 9:00 a.m.

Dr. Robert Cialdini

Influence: The Ultimate Power Tool
This presentation has two primary purposes. To enable participants to:

  1. Identify those psychological principles that will most effectively influence others to say "yes" to their requests;
  2. Recognize how to employ these principles in positive (rather than manipulative) ways to produce change in others that is effective and ethical.

Dr. Cialdini distinguishes agents of influence into three types: Bunglers, Smugglers, and Sleuths. The bungler is the individual who doesn't understand how to use the most powerful principles of influence and, consequently, fumbles away opportunities for beneficial change. The smuggler is the person who understands these principles of influence perfectly well, but who imports them illicitly into situations where they don't naturally exist, thereby producing gain that is one-sided and temporary. The sleuth, on the other hand, uncovers the powerful principles that naturally reside in the influence situation and brings them to the surface to the long-term advantage of both parties. Through specific examples, Dr. Cialdini shows that it is only through the sleuth's approach that an influence agent can bring about the desired change in others that is both effective and ethical.

Dr. Cialdini received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina and his Post Doctorate from Columbia University. He is currently Regents' Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University, where he has also been named Distinguished Graduate Research Professor.

Dr. Bud and Karin Sipko

Who Pays Your Salary? Creating The Patient Centered Practice
It is easy at times to get focused as a dental team on production goals, treatment efficiency, eliminating cancellations and other "hard data" that provide some form of measurement to a practice. In this short lecture, Bud and Karin Sipko will spend the time reviewing the basic principles of effectiveness in working with people - remember it is who pays your salary.

Both Karin and Bud have been long-term dental teachers: Karin taught at the Hygiene School in Vancouver for 14 years and Bud was a part time lecturer in the Dental School. In 1982 they joined Chuck Sorenson with Selection Research Inc., and since that time have provided consultation and lecture experiences for dentists and staffs in North America, Australia and England in the areas of staff selection, marketing and management, and working effectively with the new person in your practice.

For the past 10 years Bud has mentored study clubs in the teaching Centre of the Sipko office and is presently teaching Implant Courses for Straumann Canada. Bud has been an AADPA member since 1992.

Together they continue to work with dentists and teams that have an interest in the "soft side" of dentistry — people, their behavior and the human condition.

Keynote Speakers - Saturday, March 4, 2006, 9:00 a.m.

Dr. John Kois

Implementing Cost-Effective Dentistry: New Dimensions In Restorative Treatment
The fundamental rationale for a comprehensive treatment approach is a long-term strategy for dental health commensurate with an enhanced level of wellness for our patients. Understanding parameters of disease expression is sometimes confused with parameters of patient adaptation. Formulating the appropriate treatment plan and sequence then becomes a unique challenge. This process can be simplified if we provide a diagnostically driven approach rather than merely a menu of treatment options. This presentation will focus on a unique 10 Step process that will guide the dentist through the key elements required to achieve predictable longevity, case acceptance and patient satisfaction.

The interdisciplinary treatment planning session is a complete philosophy involving a systematic approach including:

  • Practice Identity/Image
  • Data Collection
  • Personality Profile
  • Decision Process/Assessment
  • Case Presentation

Participants will learn:

  1. A systematic approach for treatment planning every patient in their practice.
  2. To focus on the four most important diagnositic categories.
  3. To develop critical risk parameters to minimize failures and maximize successful results.
  4. Protocols to implement treatment-planning strategies.
